2008 GKN Supplier Award
(Transcript of the Presentation)
"The Supplier of the Year award for Innovation and Cost is presented to the
supplier who has demonstrated the greatest contribution to GKN Aerospace in
terms of product and process innovation or cost down support.
This company has
been selected based on their support in both areas.
During the past year they
have demonstrated extraordinary support of GKN by working with our engineering
design team to provide quality designs for complex titanium forgings and dies.
This effort has not only helped GKN win new business and ensure product
manufacturability but has also drawn accolades from the Prime customer -
Sikorsky.
As we all know, cost reductions do not always take the form of price
downs. This supplier has provided significant support to GKN St. Louis by
agreeing to support min/max deliveries of titanium forgings to the plant,
thereby reducing total investment in inventory and improving flow and
through-put. In large titanium forging industry, this is a paradigm shift in the
manner in which production and inventory is managed.
We are pleased to announce
that this year's GKN Aerospace award for Innovation and Cost goes to Weber
Metals, a subsidiary of Otto-Fuchs."
