Titanium Market Highlights
Weber Metals involvement in titanium closed die forgings for the Boeing 787, through
several first tier subcontractors such as Alenia, Fuji Heavy Industries, Goodrich
and Spirit, is so significant that this project alone justifies our new titanium
facility. The confidence that these major aircraft subcontractors have shown in
Weber by placing millions of dollars of business with us gives credit to the hard
work of all of us at Weber.
Boeing is also designing the 747-8 derivative. This aircraft requires a number of
new aluminum and titanium forgings. Again, major subcontractors have come to Weber
Metals because of the support we have provided to them in the past. The good word
has spread to Boeing to the degree that we’ve been commended by several Boeing employees
for our good work. It has been suggested that Weber should expect to be a significant
player on the new 747-8.
